In August 2011, a group of Harvard undergraduates visited the rural communities of Las Mercedes, Dominican Republic, and Fond-Jeannette, Haiti, and worked to build latrines accessible to many community members.
What we do
Children of the Border works in the southern border region between the Dominican Republic and Haiti, helping children and their families through medical services, employment initiatives, and the distribution of free contraceptives.
Field operations are run by local residents, members of the communities served, and managed from Harvard University by Sebastian Velez and Annie Ryu with the help of a dedicated group of volunteers.
We are a dedicated secular organization, guided by the principles of Humanism.
Our funding comes from the generosity of individuals making direct donations, and Humanists around the world through Humanist Charities, the American Humanist Association, and the Norwegian Humanist Association.
